The 2009 Artist of the Year Award is

Steven Curtis Chapman!

How awesome is this????  We just saw him in Indianapolis last night and tonight he was awarded Artist of the Year! The concert was unbelievably awesome!  We couldn't take our camera in, but I was able to get a few terribly fuzzy pictures with my cell phone!  Hey, I'll take what I can get :)!!!

Geoff Moore was a guest at last night's concert and it was nice to see him with Steven again. Jon and I saw the 2 of them together almost 10 years ago at Reardon Auditorium in Anderson. (Wow!  It really just seems like yesterday!)  At one point in the show, Geoff was the only one on stage and he was talking about the Chapman Family's movement to care for orphans called Show Hope.  I have always had a soft spot in my heart for little girls from China, so I could sit and listen to all that this organization does all day long (as long as I have a few tissues and a shoulder to cry on!)   The Chapman's themselves have adopted 3 little ones from China, the first being in 2000 and their story is amazing.  In May of 2008, the youngest went to be with Jesus in his "Big, Big House" and their story gets even more unbelievable.   The way that this family has shown the love of Jesus throughout this tragedy is amazing.  It's not been easy on them by any means, but they have continually lifted it up to the Lord and are a great witness to us all. Even in times that we feel are so dark and so hard, Jesus is there!  Grab a box of tissues and set aside some time and watch the first interview the Chapman family did after the loss of Maria Sue.  The interview was with Larry King on Larry King Live, it's a wonderful interview with the exception of Larry King calling Maria, Mary more than once.  You'd think he could at least get her name correct.  You can see all 5 parts of the interview by these links:

Thank you, WQME!

Jon and I are HUGE fans of Steven Curtis Chapman. We love to listen to all of his music, new and old. We also have some great traveling memories that revolve around a few of his songs, one being Dive! We had just purchased the Speechless CD and then headed to Chicago for a friend's wedding and I bet we listened to that song 100 times over the weekend! Oh, what fun memories!

Last Thursday I entered a contest sponsored by WQME 98.7 FM to win tickets to go and see Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith in concert together in Indy and I WON!!!! Jon and I get to go and see the United Tour! The kids were a little upset that we didn't win 4 tickets, because they really wanted to go and see them, too. Maybe we can all go to the next SCC concert.

I'll be sure to post an update on how our seats were and how the concert was!

Fitting for this weekend...

I thought this was fitting for this weekend... yesterday was the Susan G. Komen Race For A Cure weekend in Indianapolis.  Riley's teacher ran in the race in honor of her Mother-in-Law who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.  I received this cute little picture in an email and I just love this picture!

Tiramisu is HERE!

Well, they've waited a little over a week and now it's finally here!  When we got home from school on Friday they were just about finished putting the playset together.   The kids played for 5 straight hours on it the first night and then every moment that they could the rest of the weekend.  It is fun!  Saturday afternoon they decided to name it Tiramisu.   Kind of funny, isn't it?  Although... it is the name of one of my favorite desserts!!!!   Welcome Tiramisu!

Riley's newest accessory

We missed you, Kamrie!

A great Easter at the Zoo!

After church, we met Grandma and Grandpa T. and Uncle Joe at the Indianapolis Zoo for a picnic lunch and a few fun hours inside the zoo.  Grandma T. brought a fabulous lunch for all of us and we munched and munched through all of our shivers!  The weather was supposed to be sunny and 70... which it was, they just forgot to mention all of the frigid wind that was going to come along with the sunny and 70!  Brrrrr!  We survived and had a nice day together.  Once we were heading out, we decided that we would rather have it a bit chilly than 100 degrees and sultry!

It's Official! Payton is "7"!

Payton is officially "7"!  Happy Birthday, Honey! We love you!

He went to bed pretty early tonight, and then woke up around 11:00 wanting to know how long he had until his birthday.  He would go back to bed and then come back downstairs and ask me if he looked any bigger yet!  He's so adorable and such a sweetie!

It's late, but how can you be upset with so much birthday excitement rolling around the house?  Jon and I sang Happy Birthday to him and now he's headed back upstairs.  Goodnight Birthday Boy!

Shout Out To Grandma and Grandpa T!

My table is starting to actually look like a table now..... a BIG thank you to Jon's mom for sending me the goodies for the table along with a huge box containing an Easter wardrobe for the kids...... Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!  We love you Grandma and Grandpa T and Uncle Joe, too!

Riley's visit to the Orthodontist

Well... our visit actually had a better outcome than we were expecting!  Riley goes next week to pick up her removable appliance (aka retainer).  This will be a 3-6 month process and he sure that it will permanently fix her cross bite.  She was showing signs of stress to her jaw bones and tissue due to the cross bite, so this is fabulous that it can be fixed this easily and pretty quickly!

Wednesday's Adventure...

This morning we had to take the car in to get the oil changed and tires rotated.  Our appointment was a little earlier than the kids wanted to get up, even the dog was feeling a little lazy this morning!

We did end the day with a BIG surprise purchase... I can't tell until we get it here and can take a few pictures of it!  Let's just say the kids were extremely happy!  If you already know what it is, shhhhh, don't spoil the fun!

Ooops! I forgot an 'adventure'

I forgot to mention that Barkley also had an adventure today... he got a haircut!  Isn't he cute?

Our spring break adventures

So far, we have had a few great adventures for spring break!  They may not be your traditional "spring break adventure" activities... buy hey, we're having fun!

The kids have had friends come over to play and spend the night, we've cooked out with great neighbors and enjoyed their hot tub (Thanks, Heather and Karl!), watched a few good movies (I highly recommend Bedtime Stories), cleaned out our entire garage, kept our downstairs from flooding (That was actually God's doings, but we were there to watch the water while it was getting pumped out!), and now for the highlight...

The kids and I went to the..... Dentist!  Yay!  Surprisingly, Riley and Payton were very excited to go there, strange as it sounds I'd rather have them excited than crying and throwing a fit.  There were a few unexpected outcomes from our appointments today, though.  First, they used this new fluoride treatment on us and all I can say is yuck!  It really looked like rubber cement and they painted it on with a tiny paintbrush.  It's really thick and sticky.  You can eat or drink immediately after they apply it, but you cannot brush it off for at least 6 hours.  Let me just say it was a really long 6 hours for Riley and I.  Payton didn't seem to mind it that much, but then I realized that he doesn't have his front teeth, therefore his lip wasn't continually getting stuck to them!  The ladies at the Dentist's office like to watch people as they leave after having the fluoride treatment, they said that everyone leaves with "llama lips" and if you've ever seen a llama and watched them eat, you'd understand.

Check out this Llama and his lovely lips!

Okay... back to our adventures.  After we left the Dentist's office we literally were going insane with this sticky stuff on our teeth and wanted something different to possibly get the taste out of our mouths.  So, we opted for Sundaes from McD's.  You can't beat a sundae with hot fudge and caramel for only $1.  The ever-so-kind lady at the counter informed us that the chocolate dipped cones 'returned' today (I didn't even know they had ever had them, and that led me to wonder where they had been???) so of course the kids wanted those.  I can remember being little and chocolate dipped cones were always on my mom's list of 'those are too messy, you can't have it in the car' snacks.... so since we had the time to eat inside, I let them splurge and each have one... Riley and Payton are proving my mom to be very smart!  I can't imagine them ever eating one of these cones in a car!  Here's why....  Warning:  It's pretty scary!  All of this happened literally in under 4 minutes!

Note:  Pictures were taken from my cell phone... gotta love the technology these days!

As you can see, Riley wasn't as happy as Payton.  The second unexpected outcome from our trip to the Dentist is that Riley has to have a consultation with an Orthodontist.  So, we've made that appointment for our spring break week as well.  We are just adding to our list of adventures!
