Interesting "holidays" ....

I was skimming through a magazine today at lunch and found a few interesting things that I wanted to share...

Did you know that there is actually a "talk like a pirate day" and we've missed it for this year? Man, what a bummer! Arghhhh!

Payton Just Lost His First Tooth!!!

Isn't he just the cutest little guy???!!! Payton is SO excited! He just lost his first tooth tonight right before he went to bed. He's so proud of his new 'smile'! Now the Tooth Fairy has to gear up for twice as many trips to the Tindal household! Congratulations on this new adventure, Payton! We love you!

Bed Time Trend

New School Backpacks!

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa T for the new backpacks! We went shopping today and were able to find them and Payton a pair of shoes. Riley is waiting until she can find the 'Mary Jane' style Crocs in her size. Notice the orange in Payton's backpack and shoes???? He loves being a Husky!

Riley's book case

We wanted to change the paint color of Riley's book case because the maroon didn't look so hot with her purple and green.... so with a little help of my cricut and stamping supplies this is what we came up with!

I had Thursday and Friday off this past week so I could get a few (thousand) things finished before starting my new job. This turned out great because Aunt Kaye and Uncle Bob brought Grandma Bessie up to see us and the new house. She was pretty exhausted by the time the got here from riding in the car, let's be honest... she was exhausted before they even left her house, but she won't admit it! I know it was hard on her to travel, but we are sure glad that she made the trip. The kids had fun playing games with her. They taught her how to play "UNO" which she emphatically kept pronouncing as "you know". This drove Payton crazy! He tried to tell her it was like "uno, dos, tres... uno means one" this made me giggle inside because as we all know, she loves a good argument and Payton sure knows how to stand his ground! By the last round she was still saying it like 'you know' and he would just smile at me and roll his eyes, the best part is that she would smile back at him as if she were just doing it to drive him up the wall! It was a fun afternoon and I'm sure it's one that Payton will look back on and smile about for many years! I'm already picturing the scrapbook page about this one.... :)

So many changes, how can we keep up?

This has been the "Summer of Change" as I like to call it (sounds like a good book title doesn't it?). Having a new house means new schools. New schools means new friends, new sports leagues, new school colors (orange, white, and brown) and mascot (Huskies), and for me it means a new job. The 6th was my last day at Pebble Brook and I am now making the move from preschoolers to helping in a third grade classroom. I will be a one-on-one instructional assistant through the Special Education Department and I have been assigned a wonderful girl for this school year. I had the opportunity to meet with her and her family about a week ago and it was great! She was in an accident about 2 1/2 yrs ago and suffered a traumatic brain injury. She is just the sweetest thing! So, this will put me on the exact same schedule as our two kiddos! How awesome is that? As was discussed in Church this morning by Pastor Brock, this is completely a "gift from God!" I am so excited to get away from my 7am-6pm, 4 day a week preschool position! I will admit that I honestly already miss those beautiful little 3 and 4 yr olds!

So, summer is officially over... I start tomorrow and the kids go on Tuesday. That's pretty sad, but exciting all at the same time! They are excited to start their new schools. Payton will be at the Primary School (K-2nd) and Riley and I at the Elementary School (3rd-5th). I'll be posting a few new pictures soon!

Home * Sweet * Home

Well, I don't have inside pictures to share yet, because I want to showcase "before and after" pics together and since it's not all put together inside, you have to wait on those... but here are a few of the outside and our new surroundings. The snake was an un-invited guest that didn't get to hang around long. Unfortunately, a few of his friends have tried to visit as well. They met the same fate as snake #1. Now that a wonderful neighbor cut down all of the tall grass and weeds from behind us, we haven't seen any more of the ssssssssnake family! (My guess is that it helped cutting down the weeds, but also they might be a little afraid to meet Jon!)

We've painted and painted and painted and painted...

Our house is 2500 square feet and we have literally painted all but one room of it! It took something like 9 straight days of painting, but for the most part other than touch ups here and there it's finished! Now, when I say 9 straight days I mean every waking moment other than when we were at work or sleeping... seriously! We had a few great friends that came and helped along the way (thank you Sunshine and Katie!). Plus, I put the kids to work in their own rooms. Riley's room is lavender and celery green, but I didn't get any pictures of her while she was painting. Payton chose orange and white because they are his new school colors (Go Huskies!) and since he was old enough to request a specific color of anything, it's always been orange!

Lampshades are the rave these days!

Poor Barkley had to have "the surgery" on July 1st. We took him to the Hamilton County Spay and Neuter Clinic, where it's a same day, in early in the morning, out by 6 in the evening procedure. He was completely miserable! Poor guy! The best part (for us, but worst for him) was that he had to wear the 'lampshade' collar for 7 days. He looked like he just came to earth from the moon and lost his spaceship! It was really hilarious. He was over at the new house and he would keep running into the doorways and had to back up and try again just to get into a room. We laughed so hard the entire week he had to wear it. A few neighbors walked over to our yard just to get a better look at him and see what was on his head. Oh, and if you want to get some strange looks while driving down the road, just put one of these collars on your dog and let him ride up front in the passenger seat!

Riley had a few friends spend the night at our new house for her birthday this past weekend. It was complete chaos because things were not close to being organized, but the girls didn't mind at all. In fact, they had a wonderful time and even helped Riley organize her room a little bit!

The water gun picture is from a friend's birthday party the day before. I was a little nervous with a full water gun pointed directly at me and the camera... but we survived! Riley just giggled and moved on to attack her brother with it!
